A Glitch in The Matrix

A Glitch in the matrix evokes the feeling that the world is not as we’ve envisioned it to be. My wife and I started using the term a couple of years ago when my cousin Jaleel went to hospital for a persistent headache. He passed away a couple of weeks later from meningitis. “But it was a headache!”,

I screamed at the doctors when they told us we had to let him go. That was July 4, 2013. Since then I always pay attention to little signs. Lights flickering. Numbers on the cable box. Feelings of Deja vu. Crows on my window sill. However I wasn’t prepared for September 11,2018. I knew she was sick and I knew she was tired. Her body was weak but she had the spirit of Lion! A Leo to be exact. I’m a Field Service Technician so I was able to pop up at any facility they moved her to in the middle of the day. She would always smile because she never expected to see me. I’m the strong silent one of the family, but for the last couple of days I felt something wasn’t right. Every day I would come home from work and ask my wife, ”How’s Carlisha today?” My son even began to include her in his prayers. However when there is a glitch in the matrix a toddler’s prayers can’t stop the inevitable. I’ve been with my wife for 18 years and aside from us living in Virginia for awhile we have always been neighbors and her door was always open. For sugar. For Ketchup or even a couple of dollars if I needed it. She was always there for me. For us. Now she’s not and I’m not sure how to process it. My wife and her family are absolutely heart broken and I can’t fix it. Glitches in the Matrix can’t be fixed. You just kind of wonder around in a daze and pray one day your broken heart is made whole. Until then I’m going to miss you Carlisha. WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU. You were to my wife what Diyah was to me. Give her a kiss for me. I’m sure she’s waiting for you with a huge smile like...”COUSIN!!” Rest easy. We got you. The kids will be fine. The circle of life is doesn’t stop. We have to live life albeit painful at times and ride this thing til the wheels fall off... or there’s a glitch in the Matrix.

Khalil Gibron says: “For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered? Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance”. Rest In Peace sister cousin. PEACE BE STILL
